Richard Somes is definitely the right guy to go to when you want a horror film, especially one about Aswangs, done right.  But can Richard Somes combine his horror sensibilities with romantic ones?

A thousand different reasons may bring you front and center at a screening of this film. You may be brought here as a fan of British Theater, as the film gathers some of the best thespians to ever grace the British stage.

Or you may simply be one of the many enamored fans of the late great Ms. Marilyn Monroe.

NASA had once estimated that a manned trip to Mars would cost around $400 Billion dollars.

But for those of us who don’t have a few hundred billion lying around, the next best thing might just be the nearest IMAX 3D theater.

War Horse Review: A War with a Happy Ending

‘Young Adult’ Review: Getting Old Gets Entertaining

Young Adult sees writer Diablo Cody reunite with director Jason Reitman for the first time since Juno, with Charlize Theron starring as Mavis Gary - a 37-year-old alcoholic divorcee who returns to her small hometown after living in the city.

If Tahanan and Suntok sa Buwan stand on opposite ends of the spectrum, Balang Araw stands firmly planted in the middle.  It combines the exposition of Tahanan with Suntok’s quieter moments to deliver an enjoyable, if somewhat uneven, mood piece. It’s a shame that the film runs out of steam the closer we approach its climax.

In last week’s Releases of the Week, Mihk Vergara said ’...the prospect of watching three douches dick around doesn’t sound appealing at all...’  Not only is the movie more than that description, it turns out the movie is very, very appealing.

Hit the jump for the full review!

There is something inherently lazy about making a boxing movie with Suntok in its title.

Fortunately, Bianca Catbagan and Jose Antonio de Rivera’s Suntok sa Buwan is definitely the furthest thing from lazy.

The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo Review: A Dragon with No Fire

When I first heard news of David Fincher’s remake of The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo, I skipped out on the original Swedish adaptation.

Unfortunately, I quickly found my efforts to be a waste of time.
