“Aswang” Teaser Promises to Be a Better “Twilight”

Exactly a month ago, we ran a story on Direk Jerrold Tarog‘s remake of Peque Gallaga‘s Aswang.
But from the looks of it, it’s shaping up to be a Filipino remake of Twilight with the roles reversed.
However, we’ve received word that the teaser is a serious misrepresentation of Aswang‘s actual story. In the teaser, it looks like the Regal marketing department is building on the love story between Lovi Poe and Paulo Avelino.
Direk Jerrold Tarog has gone on to admit that his film is far from the remake that Regal has pegged it as. If it’s simply Regal‘s way of cashing in on the popular Aswang name, then there’s no harm in it as long as they brand the film as Tarog’s own work outside of Direk Peque Gallaga‘s (which they have).
But when it comes to comparisons to Twilight, Lovi Poe is by far a more talented actress than Kristen (always in turmoil) Stewart. But only time will tell if Paulo Avelino has the vampiric charm to bring the ladies into theatres like Robert Pattinson.
Hopefully, the official trailer gives us more insight on how the real story unfolds. Check out the teaser below, as well as some man on aswang action.
