They say things come in threes. If we see one more, ONE MORE, action film release in the next couple of months, then Pinoy Action will have officially returned.
Whether or not that’s a good thing is up for debate.
If the Cesar Montano’s helmed actioner Hitman and last december’s Asiong Salonga are any indication, Pinoy Action is slowly returning albeit in the direction of campy fun.
Is it a bad thing? Not necessarily; there’s a lot to be had from good old campy fun, but those looking for the return of a hardcore action film may be dissapointed. The Hitman trailer seems to prove that if it’s one thing pinoy action films are good at, it’s being unintentionally hilarious (see: Header Image, the official synopsis), but this is a trailer. Maybe it’ll kick our asses come february. I look forward to the beating if so.
The film also stars Philip Salvador and Sam Pinto.
