Outbreak Manila Proves that Pinoys Love Zombies; Releases Survival Guide

It looks like Filipinos are just as willing to get infected by the Zombie apocalypse as the rest of the world.

And on April 14, 2012 Outbreak Manila is going to prove it when they release a horde of the undead on a crowd of willing runners.

Outbreak Manila is definitely a notch above your typical marathon. While other runs pimp the idea of running for nature, poverty or cancer, Outbreak Manila lets you run for something far more important: survival.

On April 14, 2012, runners will race across Nuvali, Sta. Rosa, Laguna chased by nothing less than a horde of zombies. Finishers get to boast with their life, while losers have to painfully admit that they wouldn’t stand a chance during a zombie apocalypse.

It was last reported that the first ever Outbreak has over 5,000 runners with hundreds more being turned down due to lack of slots.

Filipinos seem ready to embrace Zombification wholesale, despite the western roots of the horror brood. Last year’s Zombadings (Castro, 2011) and Di Ingon ‘Nato (Zaldarriaga and Relucio, 2011) gave zombies a unique Filipino spin, and it wouldn’t be surprising if other filmmakers followed suit.

To help runners prep for the upcoming run, we’ve partnered up with events company Re-Create to bring you a very special Survival Guide to Outbreak Manila. Check out the video below directed by our very own Mihk Vergara.
