It’s February 14. It’s the Hallmark-invented day to give people an excuse to go past social decorum and act like a drunken fool in the name of love. But if you’re one of those lucky enough to stay at home tonight, I’m gonna help you make your VDay evening perfect with this Top 10 Pinoy Films to Watch If You’re Alone on Valentine’s Day.
There’s really no criteria in choosing these ten films. Only the certainty that these films will not lead you to a lonely place and will not make you drunk dial a special someone. Forget about this day. Change into your jammies, grab a beer (or a soda), get some chips, and press play.

10. BULONG
Directed by Chito Roño
Starring Vhong Navarro and Angelica Panganiban
You will never have a moment of not crying of laughter from watching this film. This hybrid horror-comedy film will keep your emotions confused as to whether foul be scared or tickled. Mostly, the scariest scenes are the funniest, too. Very much like love.

9. MY ONLY U
Directed by Cathy Garcia-Molina
Starring Toni Gonzaga and Vhong Navarro
Toni Gonzaga’s character’s days are numbered. She’s diagnosed with Lupus and is about to die. But no this isn’t a tearjerker. The ways Vhong Navarro tries to make the last days of Toni meaningful are unheard of and downright hilarious. Love ends, Toni’s character dies but you’ll be laughing all the way to the grave. Isn’t that fun. Love eventually ends but who cares, as long as you were laughing every second of it.

8. DAHAS
Directed by Chito S. Roño
Starring Maricel Soriano and Richard Gomez
Richard Gomez’s character rises from the dead an tortures the life of his ex-wife, whom he believes was the one who orchestrated his murder. This film will not let you watch in peace. You’ll be scared for the life of Maricel (the wife) but at the same time you feel vindictive thinking that she deserves to die. You want to save her and kill her t the same time. Pretty much how we feel towards our exes.

7. BOOBA
Directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal
Starring Rufa Mae Quinto and Gary Estrada
Hot, sexy, and brainless. Looking for love in a cruel world. Finds it but her stupidity always gets in the way. That’s Booba. Played to a tee by Rufa Mae Quinto. Her boobs coupled with an impeccable sense of humor, she gets the man of her dreams. Yes, this movie simply affirms that with boobs and a dash of humor, you can get pretty much whatever you want.

6. BELOVED
Directed by Leroy Salvador
Starring Nora Aunor, Hilda Koronel, Christopher de Leon
Nora Aunor always gets what Hilda wants. Hilda has to be scheming and evil to be given what she deserves. In the end, they blackmail their way into each other’s hearts. And everybody ends up dead. Yey!

5. GAGAY: PRINSESA NG BROWNOUT

Starring Gelli de Belen, Janno Gibbs, and Anjo Yllana
Barrio lass invents an uling-powered gadget that will save the town from a massive brownout. But the process makes her look dirty, the uling marks in her face are un-erase-able. She is poor. The love of her life can’t accept her like this. Will she sacrifice the greater good for the desires of her heart? Or can she remain dirty and ugly and hope that one day, the love of her life will accept her for who she is? This is 90’s comedy at its finest.

4. IMPAKTITA
Directed by Teddy Chiu
Starring Jean Garcia, Aga Muhlach, and Richard Gomez
This is the film that launched Jean Garcia’s career. Before all those Twilight movies were made, Pinoy cinema already have an aswang caught between Richard Gomez and Aga Muhlach. O ha! Walang sinabi sina Edward at Jacob dito.

3. KIMMY DORA: KAMBAL SA KIYEME
Directed by Bb. Joyce Bernal
Starring Eugene Domingo, Dingdong Dantes, and Zanjoe Marudo
Eugene Domingo as both Kimmy and Dora caught in a love triangle with a geeky Dong Dantes.
Hilarity ensues. If your still feeling down for being alon on VDay. This should solve your problem.

2. DILIRYO

Starring Jomari Yllana and G Toengi
Jomari Yllana and G Toengi love each other so much that they can’t get their hands off each other. The problem is, they can’t help but be violent towards each other. Theirs is a violent love. This is what happens when two volatile and violent people fall in love, too much that it hurts. To much that it hurts no more.

1. IKAW PA LANG ANG MINAHAL
Directed by Carlitos Siguion-Reyna
Starring Maricel Soriano and Richard Gomez.
This is number for one reason alone: Maricel arrives at her own wedding wearing red and makes Richard Gomez feel like he is the biggest scumbag on earth. Which he is in this film. This is the sweetest film to watch alone on VDay. Sweet, sweet vindictive goodness. Check out this scene below:
